Bottle from Tesco. Almost black without a head. Has a milky roasted malt aroma and taste but fairly average for its style. There’s a small sticky sweetness.

Bottle from Tesco for £1. Drunk at home. Black with a bluish-purplish tint, opaque. A brown head rises up quickly this dissipates. Aroma of caramel and molasses. Pleasant enough but it smells a bit artificial. Sickly sweet taste at first, like a mass-produced soda. Sweetness is then tempered by a bit of bitterness, but the sweetness comes back in the finish and aftertaste. Weak body. Not good.

0.33l bottle. Expectations? Not sky high. It looks as it should with a soft golden crustal clear body and a small quickly fizzing away white lager head. Vegetables, corn, pale malts and cardboard on the nose. Not much more and definitely not much to enjoy here. This is not one of those you want to just sit and smell for hours. OK, it doesn't taste horrible at all, but is it anything else than the rest of the pale lagers? Not really. I think of this as a beer that people drank in the old days. When they didn't have a craft beer marked. I mean it does the job, but it's just no point what so ever to buy this more than once. Dull stuff. 14.06.2014

Bottle at home from BM Bargains Watford. 89p special for a Barbados coutry tick. Aroma is woody, lactose sweet, damp, and toasted coconut. Rich mahogany brown deep red colour with a lasting thin tan head. Flavouir is composed of weird mix of sweet lactose sugars and tangy sharp roast. A little sickly sweetness. Again more toasted coconut. Finish is fairly high FG.

Bottle shared from Deanso. Pours clear golden with an off white head. Aroma of grain, cardboard, light corn and light malt. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

275ml bottle @ the 5th Shrewsbury Bottle Share May 14, courtesy of blackhaddock. Considering this was a B&M bargain from Barbados of all places, I wasn’t expecting much but this was surprisingly quite nice. Lots of milky chocolate, a decent sweet aroma with some creamy highland toffee nestled behind the malts. Pleasant, sweet, easy-drinking stout.

I took two 275ml bottles of this to the May meeting of the Shrewsbury Bottle Swap (along with some other stuff): 89 Pence each from B&M, bargains! BBD end of July 14, so a couple of months life left when opened. Half a bottle each, as there was only four of us on the night. Black with a good tanned head. The malts gave the beer a really fine chocolate flavour, the texture was milky and semi-sweet. Uncomplicated and easy to drink. Not sure what the hops did, as I did not notice any. Interestingly I was in Bridgetown (Barbados) in April and didn’t see any of this, only to find it in a local cheap supermarket chain when back in the UK.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with an average and quickly disappearing white head. The malty aroma dominates the nose and is easily picked up. The taste starts slightly sweet, followed by balanced body, finishing with a nice bitterness. Light, drinkable and refreshing, perfect for the beach.
