Toffee and licorice aromas, a bit burned sweetness. Deep red brown, small head which disappears fast. Licorice prevails in the taste, lingering sweet malt in the aftertaste. A bit too thin mouthfeel, which on the other hand makes it easy to drink. Tak Sigmund!

Swwet malt and corn nose, slight spices. Orange-amber, heavy carbonated, fluffy head. Spicy, some fruit in the taste. Lightbodied. Exits with a hint of cinnamon.

(500 ml can, brewer not stated). My retailer tells me Aass is the actual brewery behind this anonymous contract brewed swill, distributed through Roma Mineralvann, a soft drink producer and distributor at Romerike, just north of Oslo. The beer has a very light golden colour, a good head and a weak, grassy aroma. Very light bodied. Typical weak and "neutral" macro swill flavour with notes of vegetables. Too weak hops to create much aftertaste, the little aftertaste you get is not good. Won't buy it again. BTW, "Tømmermann" in Norwegian means "carpenter" (literally "timberman"), and this beer's name alludes also to the fact that a hangover in Norwegian is called "tømmermenn" (=carpenters hammering away in your head). I won't be drinking enough of this swill to get "tømmermenn", that's for sure.

Beautiful ruby colour. Rich head, good lacing; looks great! Malty aroma. Wellbalanced roastiness. Very drinkable.

This is smooth and subtle. Some caramel, cloves, and a mild sweetness, make this easy to drink ale quite enjoyable. In my opinion, this is better than aventinus

Try the stronger \"klasse F\" version of their Juleøl instead. Rerate 2002: Has the good caramel sweetness, maltiness and spiciness a Norwegian Christmas beer should have - there's just too little of everything! And 4,5% ABV is simply not enough for this style. The \"klasse F\" (6,2%) is still A LOT better!! I believe the version sold in the US is 5,9%.

Another "klasse D" Christmas beer, brewed by Aass under the name of long gone Lundetangen Bryggeri. Reddish brown colour, artificial raspberry candy aroma, weak and watery flavour - not nearly as spicy as this style requires. Weak aftertaste. And of course, too low ABV to be a "real" Juleøl.

This "klasse D" Christmas brew has the colour of a brown ale, but is of course bottom fermented. Decent aroma of oak and some spices. Drinkable with a meal, on its own it''s just too watery to bring about any Christmas joy. Weak aftertaste. This style just calls for a higher ABV!
