(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Slightly ashy and dusty roast-malty aroma with notes of (wal-)nuts and a lighter hoppy touch. Sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roasty malty and slightly ashy taste with notes of caramel and walnuts; medium-dry sweet-bitter finish. Surprisingly full-bodied for a 11° beer. 29.IX.10

láhev, sláva pivnizubovi!!!!! Clear chestnut-red-brown colour, large off-white head. Malty nose with chocolate. Malty, caramel, dark chocolate and lots of herbal hops, hints of berries. Interesting and well-balanced beer. A pleasure.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours clear dark brown with a three finger foamy tan head. Aromas of brown roast malt with some significant grassy hop. Medium body with fairly strong carbonation. Flavor is like the brown ale malts, but the grassy hop bitter makes it wholly unlike a brown ale. This is pretty good stuff. Flavor may be a bit light for a dunkel, but ??? Anyway it drinks pretty well.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours slightly hazy gold with a 2 finger foamy white head. Aroma is mild noble hop - didn’t get malt. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is reasonably bitter grassy hop. Malt is pretty much subdued. Seems to hit the style. A nicely bitter finish.

Same bottle as pictured here, labeled Bakalar 555 Double Bock original Czech beer. I bought this only because it isn’t the standard E. European pale lager. Pours a clear orange/amber brown color with a small head that sticks around for a while. Aroma is strong on metallic lagerness with high alcohol cherry accents. Flavor is better with no high octane off flavors and a decent woodsy, brown-woods maltiness added to the ever present metallic lagering aspect. Just a little bit of sweetness, in an otherwise well lagered brew, before a hit of dry leafiness to finish it all off with. A rather light body for the style but works well with the light-doppelbock character of the beer. Again, aroma worse than the beer ends up tasting.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks tomer. Clear golden with a white head. Grainy aroma of corn and a bit of diacetyl. Sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, light bread hints and a bitter metallic finish. Light-bodied.

At a tasting, small head, deep yellow colour, aroma of honey and herbs, metalic bitterness and sickly sweetness, foul bitter metalic bitterness, just plain bad.

At a tasting, smallish head, a tpuch deep clear yellow colour, aroma of vanila, coconut and something medicinal. coarse herbal bitterness and some sickly sweetness. Not good.
