Bottle from Hops & Malt, Bregenz. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light hoppy - straw. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 230724

I tasted two versions of this beer- Za studena chmelený and Za studena chmelený čerstvým chmelem, limited edition 2014, both bottle 0,5l. Clear, deep gold colored beers. Aroma of the classic version is malty, bubble gum, slightly grassy hops. Flavor is a bit sweet, malty, almost no bitter, slight note of grassy hops, medium bodied. Not bad for Czech commercial lager. My rating: 6,3,5,3,10=2,7 The other version -Limited edition 2014- (bottle no. 0123!) smells different. Aroma is citrusy, but somewhat odd, like instant lemon tea. Fresh hops? I don’t think so. Flavor is the same- odd citrus, malt. Not bad, too, but classic version is a bit better. In any case, limited edition is absurdly overpriced (130KČ!!!), especially for this type of beer. My rating: 5,3,5,3,10=2,6

Euros beer 7/24 - Czechia 🇨🇿 Fairly dry, and finishes a little bitter. I get some of the honey but not enough.

Aromas are skunk, malt, menthol, spice. Flavors are similar to nose, good balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Don't pick up much hops. Okay but nothing special.

Keg at Red Nose Pub Kosice, 08/06/23. Clear golden with a decent white head. Nose is grassy, pale malts, stale breads, grains. Taste comprises sweet fruit rinds, bready notes, herb, straw, pale malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable affair ... overly sweet and lacking balance.

Keg at Red Nose Pub Kosice, 08/06/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a good sized lasting beige head. Nose is dried fruit rinds, dates, toffee, herb. Taste comprises brown bread, herb, floral whisper, toffee, fruit loaf. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Okay if running a touch sweet.
