500ml bottle as 'Lindisfarne Holy Island Bitter VIP' @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, April '19. Thanks Mike for this. Pours a slightly unclear amber, frothy patchy white topping. Bitter dusty nose, aged malt. Comes across a little aged, dusty and oxidised to taste, grainy malt, bitter, perhaps not at its best despite being well within date.

Shrewsbury Month Beer Exchange, Chez Sophie; 29th April 2019. Just the four of us this month, so mostly smaller offerings to share. Cheers Mike for this 500ml bottle labelled as Lindisfarne Holy Island Bitter. Clear amber pour, wispy white head. Malty with a cobweb/moldy feel overall, even though it was well 'in-date'. Poor, or at least this bottle was a poor example of this beer.

Bottle as Lindisfarne Holy Island Bitter, from Taste of Northumberland, Alnwick. Pours clear golden with a short-lived thin white head. Aromas of metallic malt, toffee, light floral note. Taste has faint lemon, more toffee. Slightly metallic finish.

1/5/2018. Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. As Lindisfarne Holy Island bitter. Pours clear amber with an average sized, foamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, biscuit, toffee, hop, citrus and flowers. Medium plus sweetness with moderate bitterness. Moderate body, oily and watery texture, average to fine carbonation. So so.

Bottle, gift from my family - cheers! Amber with a thick off-white head. Very fizzy. Too fizzy if I'm honest, and a little watery to boot. Aroma and flavour are dominated by smoke and tobacco, with a little sweet fruit and caramel hidden behind. Very dry finish. Not sure what all the smokiness was all about, it certainly didn't match up with the label description. After a hard week at work I'd unusually wanted just an easy going twiggy bitter; this didn't do what I wanted but on the plus side was quite interesting.
