Towering, very fine & dense light yellow head, slowly receding over finely carbonated pale metallic yellow beer. Spicy, herbal nose. Some citrus, and I seem to get some coriander- and chamomille aromas. Again quite spicy, even peppery flavour; very dry. Slightly pharmaceutical retronasal. Very light acidity, hoppy surrounding bitterishness. Good carbonation, quite slick, light body. Good saison, unmistakably.

Pours bit unclear blonde. Small white head. Smell is some malts- rather sweet Taste is Bitter. Very agressive overcarbonation. Some grainyness as well as overripe banana’s ( those turn very intense towards the aftertaste ) Not one I like ...

Bottle from Delhaize, Brugge, Belgie consumed at mum’s, Worcester, Friday 10th April 2015 Hazy amber with filmy off white head. Not so woody and not overly sour, profile seems a little blunted. I have to say that this is a tad forgettable, a bit sweeter than I expected, reminds me of some long forgotten confectionery. Might pour the rest of this. A5 A3 T5 P2 Ov10 2.5

For me, the last of the four "Ben’s" beers, with hazy peach blonde colour under a loose, irregular, yellowish white head. Aroma of rotten oranges, pears and apples, lots of moist cellar or damp cloth, hints of honey, biscuit, mandarin, quite strong hints of nail polish and furniture varnish, limoncello, minerals like from a very strongly sparkling water, gooseberry, red apples, white bread, mango, whisky. Taste of fruity esters with sharpish carbonation, very ’Belgian’ as it is probably intended, hint of lemon and unripe stonefruit; minerally, caramelly middle phase, sourish on a sweetish, bready malt base, yeasty and even a little bit ’doughy’, ’healthily’ sourish, leading to a finish of lingering malt sweetness only lightly strengthened by a leafy and ’basic’ peppery hop bitterishness as well as some gin-like warming alcohol, remaining relatively gentle but still becoming slightly boring and bittering in the end, with clear phenolic presence as well. I dislike the damp cloth quality in the nose - it keeps bothering me all the time, but apart from that, I guess there are worse Belgian tripels on the market. More or less acceptable, but obviously boring and too chemical and phenolic to be really good in this style - I think the IPA was the best in this range, but none of the four were great or important in any way. I’d rather have a Westmalle Tripel at 75 cl any time.

Bottle from Delhaize Brugge consumed this at home Sunday 1st March 2015 Pours light amber with a sticky white head of foam. Aroma is brett but not too much, there is also a little fruit. Bretty and fruit with a light woody edge, it’s a little bit funky, It’s okay but I don’t think it is quite as good as the American Oak version. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle from Delhaize Brugge consumed this at home Sunday 22nd February 2015 Pours golden dark gold edging towards amber with a white sticky head atop. Aroma is bretty with a fruitiness also, the fruit is mostly citrus, lemony I guess. In the mouth this follows a simily trajectory i.e. bretty but then fruity with a woody edge, the woodiness not as prominent as I had expected. Certainly a little funky and with some vanilla, it’s fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2
