Muddy amber-brown colour. Holds a half-inch layer of head. Aroma is fruity (peach, pear, plum), sweaty, dusty and alcoholic. Strong flavour is foremost yeasty (dusty, sweaty again) with some phenols retronasal. By-the-numbers example, but does nothing wrong. Alcohol lends dryness to the slightly plummy, otherwise honeyed malty finish.

2004 bottling. Murky red-brown body with plenty of yeast sediment, puffy cream head with brown specks. Plummy aroma with cinnamon, caramel, and bread notes. Flavor was a bit harsh, very yeasty/estery, with a heavy emphasis on plum and other dark fruits in addition to hints of cinnamon and pear. Quite bready and caramely. Alcohol was kept relatively in check. Bitter and a bit unbalanced despite its complexity, and should probably age for another year or two.

Thanks to Eyedrinkale for the trade! Dark lemony colored pour that produced a thick lacy head. Ripe citrus aroma. Musty fruit cellar. The flavor is moderately complex. Sweetness, some acidic tartness, fading into a dryer finish.

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Jul 9th, 2004: This beer is an amber brown color with a thick and fluffy off-white head. Nice lacing throughout. Berries, yeast and citrus in the nose. Medium-bodied with a nice malty coating, along with citrus and spices. The alcohol is ever present yet understated nicely. The finish is lightly bitter and satisfying. Pretty darn good overall.
