Draught @ Smoke & Barrel, Washington, D.C. Pours cloudy nearly black with stable light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and roast with a touch of caramel. Sweetish flavour of malt and caramel, with notes of hops and subtle hints of coffee. Bitter and slightly sourish aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Really nice.

Sampled at the brewery. Pours an inky black with some frothy, beige head. Nose is very nice, dried citrus peel, crackermeal, coffee grounds, a little bit of dried fruit, some rubber. Flavor has some dried citrus, but plenty of malt too, some sweetness but not sticky, rubber, some nice toasted bread, dried malt, a little licorice. Fairly clean finish. Hid the alcohol very well. Nice beer.

Pour is a clear amber with a average white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with something like gingerbread. Flavor is again malty but think with a roasted nut thing going on after the swallow. Ok beer and right on for the style.
