Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

330ml bottle, thanks to Geiserich! Pours very dark brown with tan head. Has quite a strong plummy aroma. Taste is rich malts with chewy dark fruits and a warming alcohol character. Some faint marzipan and honey coming through. Not generally my cup of tea, but it’s alright.

Pours hazy gold into a shaker. White head with little retention recedes to skim surface leaving spider lacing. Sweet caramel and tangy fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel, nuts and bread front to back. Lasting slightly tart fruit finish.

Geschmack sehr malzig, fruchtig, alkoholisch, holzig, Wein, süß.

Bottled 500ml (PBF IX)
Clear golden color, small white head. Grainy, light earthy nose. Light-bodied. Clean, earthy German hoppyness. Clean malt profile but not very hoppy. More like some kind of Helles.
