100th rater bought this to make Beer Can Chicken with a sligh twist. I am embracing the can revolution but it seems so weird when I poured this pedestrian ican nto into my majestic, large, dominating, beautiful Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass. Pours out much quicker than a bottle, forgot about that. Small head that quickly fades, medium lacing left. Color is cloudy yellow, cant see through the beer but has a nice translucence (well lit, like if the snorks leaved in a #1 only toilet). Aroma is grassy german pils, right on the dot for pale lager type of pils, which I am not a big fan of. Of course a large hop aspect as well. Taste has a bit of hop sweetness, followed by a malty crispy, bready kind of thang, chicken wang. Not bad in the taste department, leaves a grassy, hoppy, sweet atertaste. Pleasantly live carbonation. Drinking one now, one for the chicken and 4 for the friends (or emergencies I guess).

Bottle: Very nice ruby red color with lots of pink/red head. Nose is filled with raspberry, as well as some malt. Taste is much more like fresh raspberries with some malt and wheat. Nice crisp finish even has a bit of hops present. Thanks to DocLock!

Bottle (courtesy of Adrian910ss): Poured a medium orangey color ale with a huge foamy head with great retention (better then average for the style). Aroma of green citrusy hops is quite powerful and is dominating. Taste is also dominated by citrusy hops with some light caramel malt also noticeable. Boy is slightly above average with some good carbonation. I didn’t notice the presence of the English hops thought.

My first fox. Got this on tap at the Bocktown Bar in the Robinson Township Mall shopping center complex. Terra the waitress told me it has lots of cloves. Pours brown yellow orange with no red in my glass. Tan head that hangs around for awhile. Has a sweet clove aroma. Yep, lots of cloves in the intital taste bite, perhaps a bit too much spices. There is a noticable lack of sweetness. Has an offensive bitterness to it that I just can’t handle. More like an IPA or imp stout. Finish is medicine bitter that long lingers after you finally swallow it. Some hints of dirt in the finish also.

Hazy orange pour, with a huge, lasting, soapy head - lively carbonation - spicy, herbal nose, with hints of orange marmalade and dough/biscuit - a little too much carbonation in the mouth - the flavor is light and quite fruity, with some apple and berry hints - the vienna malts are there, but aren’t as prominent as one would expect - some herbal/tea-like notes - finishes with a touch of hops and lingering caramel - a little different for the style, but pretty tasty - under-rated.

Poured a murky amber that bordered on brown with a bubbly, but fast fading white head. Smells of, you guessed it, hops, orange, pine, grapefruit. A slightly yeasty hint to the aroma too. Left quite a bit of white, grainy sediment on the sides of my glass. Flavor was solid, citrus obviously, grapefruit and lemons, but there is also a significant malt flavor with a touch of caramel. Bitterness stays, but not overpowering. Very balanced for an IPA.

Bottle courtesy of Hopdog: Poured a dark brown color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of dry sweet fruits and cookie dough is quite nice and enjoyable. Taste is generally lighter then expected with some sweet fruit and light cookie dough being enjoyable but less complex then I would have liked it to be. Body is way too thin for the style and carbonation is very low which doesn’t fit the style IMHO. Alcohol is well hidden and I would have to say that this a fair example of the style but better carbonation and fuller body would be even better.

Tap at HDG - yup, that’s an esb alright - that was pretty much my reaction - but I could really see myself downing a few pints of this, so that is to their credit - semi-dry, medium hop profile, and a nice herbal, almost tea-like flavor, make this one sessionable ale - and really, from an ESB, what more can you ask?

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear, reddish brown with an off-white head. Unclean, lightly vinous aroma with some roasted malt. Medium body with sweet roasted malt - slightly oxidized. A vague, hoppy finish. Not completely fresh - unfortunately. 011206

Tap at Barcade. Dark amber color and rather translucent. A medium breasy smoked aroma. Taste is at first really nothing but at the tail end a strong sweet skoe kicks in. Leaves a long sweet smoked aftertaste. I just wish for more body and overall heft to the beer.
