Copper color, tall head. Hops in the aroma are full and floral. They are dry in the flavor. Bitter hop juice character that tastes better with a full sip. Good beer.

Winterfest 2016. Big chocolate aroma with lots of cherry. Tastes much like a cherry chocolate cake. Sweet, heavy, and tons of cherry. Some alcohol in the flavor and noticeable on the palate, but this beer is excellent.

On tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours clear gold with a slight orange hue and a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma combines grass and citrus with a decent amount of bitterness and sweet grains. Flavor has more of an earthy grapefruit note with some grass and a sweet grain backbone.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 12/15/2015. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, light pine, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy/piney hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, light nuttiness, pine, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/pine and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate herbal/piney hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American porter style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt and light-moderate herbal/piney hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, good, rather white head. Smell is sweet, very sweet bourbon. Bit of a weird aspect I can’t quite describe. Taste is Bourbon, grainy, sweet, good MF and Carbo. Lovely bourbon taste !

Overall this is an excellent Americanized ESB style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. This had a great balance between English and American hop flavors; and still fit the base style extremely well. A very enjoyable offering.
