About
Shaketown Brewing Co. honours the rich history of its past, stretching far beyond its own brewery walls. It takes pride in its name and values the town & community above all else. Shaketown is a celebration of North Vancouver, old and new. Real and, well, not so real. The alternative facts of the North Shore. Told by real people making real good beer. Shaketown is operating on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples: Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Hazy, pale. Thin head. Okay, some weedy hop, weak pale malt, lends a watery, worty character.

Pale, no head, looks low carbo. Weedy, moderate bitterness, malts are sweetish, not framing the hops well.

Slight haze, flabby kettle sour, some lemony and celery notes. I’m not feeling it.

Pale, slight haze. This is plasticy, unclean, and not much chamomile. If the base and the adjuncts are off, it’s a miss.

On tap at Shaketown, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is full of both sweet esters and chamomile—uh oh, you know this is gonna be a trainwreck. Flavour is quite sweet and estery, with way too much bubblegum and cotton candy, tempered a little by the spicy chamomile. Totally incompetent but somehow not an egregious disaster. Still quite bad though.

On tap at Shaketown, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma has gentle lacto, a touch of hay, and very gentle citrus. Flavour is dry, with a weird oxidized hay-like character, a touch of citrus, and some lacto. Not the most dialed in berliner to say the least.

On tap at Shaketown, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals plenty of grassiness, with light pine, and some cardboardy bready malt. Flavour is pretty much the same, with herbaceous, grassy hops, and a bready malt with that same cardboardy quality. Reasonably hopped, just a little clunky. Decent.

Black, small tan head. Neutral nose. Almost too bitter, a bitter thin version of Murphys. NITRO

On tap at Shaketown. Pours clear gold with a white head. Biscuit malts and pine on the nose. Flavour has bitter pine, resins, some spruce. A chemical bitterness on the finish. Biscuit malts; a bit thin and seltzery. Not great.

On tap at Shaketown. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Pine, citrus, and a musty yeast expression on the nose. Flavour has bittering hops, pine needles, lemon peels, and an interesting yeast expression. Malts are crisp and crackery. Not bad.
