About
As the “Köstritzer Erbschenke” the Köstritzer black beer brewery is first mentioned in 1543, making it one of the oldest breweries in Germany. In 1948, the brewery became a "Volkseigener Betrieb" after the state of Thuringia had expropriated it. In 1991 the Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei became part of the Bitburger Group and within a few years it has grown into one of the most modern and largest breweries in Thuringia.

Bottle from a local supermarket. Looks good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Fruity lemon aroma. Starts mild, dry, lemon notes. Bitter background. Finish well balanced, not too sweetish. Nice!

Bottle from a local supermarket. Looks good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Sweet cherry aroma. Starts mild, light malty hints, more and more fruity with a lot of cherries. Modest sweet, not too intense. Finish also with some dry-roasty hints. Okay!

Flaska från Hopt.se. Mörkbrun med högt, krämigt skum. Rostade lite metalliska smaker, lite som att äta kavring med smör och ost i aluminiumfolie. Ganska torr, lätt beska. Trevligt drickvänlig men lämnar kanske inte något djupare intryck. Ok

Õlle on selline jook, et iga uus kord kui klaasi või pudeli suule tõstad, siis leiad midagi uut, sõltuvalt tuhandest-miljonist pisiasjast, mis hetke olukorda mõjutavad. Seega piirdun iga õlle juures selle tekstiga.

Bottle from Erzengel. My attempt at German lunch - leftover mash fried in butter and dripping with crushed garlic, and (Polish) frankfurters. Sweet malty aroma. Some coffee. Dark and glossy - cola brown in the light. Creamy beige head. Light sweet with a touch of sourness. Some bitterness which is soon overpowered. Burnt caramel. Mesium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Good stuff. The bright side of sweet and goes well with my fried food.
