Description
Fate brought us together at Hawkshead Brewery and in a short time it became clear we shared a passion for great beer and many ideals. After being made redundant at the beginning of lockdown restrictions in March 2020. Matt, Michelle, Steve & Paul reunited as Lakes Brew Co. Bringing together the shared ambition to be one of Cumbria’s progressive, sociably innovative breweries. With a strong ethos of support and collaboration, through the beers we produce and the team we surround ourselves with – engrained in our locality.

Adversity lit a flame within us to create something for ourselves, take control of our own futures and build a brewery that we are happy to be involved in. The end of July 2022 marks the first year of brewing for us. We have been so lucky to be able to carry on doing what we are passionate about, not only brewing but in the area that feeds us inspiration on a daily basis. Creating innovative & progressive craft beers in the Lake District and proud to be an inclusive, independent, woman co-owned business where everyone is welcome.

Can on the Eurostar from St Pancras to Bruxelles Midi, thanks to Rich, 09/02/24. Hazed orange with a white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is orange zest, light pine needle, grass, melon. Taste comprises mandarin, papaya, light floral notes, melon, light pine flicker. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close splashed with balanced light juicy hop bitterness. Not bad.

440ml can. Pours a clear dark ruby, beige head. Aroma of caramel/toffee malts, fruits hops. Taste follows suit, sweet toffee/caramel malts up front, fruity/citrusy hops giving orange, berry flavours, leading to a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very nice - Red IPA is debatable as the malt seems to lead rather than the hops. Very much enjoyed in any case.
