Beautiful amber in colour and surprisingly rich head for a bock. Mildly malty, slightly fruity nose. Less body than you might expect, but really salty. The finish is really bitter.

as Einbecker Schwarzbier, on tap, 2008
Dark brown. Fresh grainy nose. Lightly toasty aroma. Full malty goodness with some light toastiness. Light tasting but the body is moderate and the character mellow with clean Germanic flavours.
as Einbecker Dunkel, 2001
Chestnut colour; chewy, molasses nose with notes of marzipan and slightly burnt cherry; lightish body but it is filling in its maltiness - slightly syrupy, hints of molasses, icing sugar, walnuts; finishes limp and watery. 6 2 6 2 12 = 2.8

Light gold; grassy, biscuity nose w/lemon, leather and blackcurrant; lean, spritzy body; somewhat thick noble hops against a light lemon note. Rooty bitterness. Finishes bitter, but with a surprising hit of sweet malt.

Some treacle flavours, a surprisingly nimble body, and a tannic, off-dry finish.
