(Bottle 33 cl) Pale golden with a decent, white head. Classical German pilsener with a wonderful flowery nose from the aromatic hops. German tradition at it’s best. 231299

(Bottle 33 cl) Very pale, with a fresh hoppy nose. There’s a hint of something slightly smoked in there - almost like whisky malt. Bitter finish. 200899

The first of the five beers brought by a friend from Hamburg. Apparently she bought it because she wanted to show me something that was genuinely from Hamburg. The fact that it says "Original Hamburger" on the label and that the Alster is the river that goes through Hamburg probably drew her to this one. I’m not a fan of radlers, but I don’t mind them much, and this one isn’t that good. First, the ingredients in the back say that the "lemonade" is made from water, sugar, soda, citric acid, and "natural" aroma. Not really what one would call a real lemonade, eh ? And it shows. It pours a pale yellow color with a fluffy, rapidly disappearing head (did you expect anything else), with a fake lemon aroma. Taste? Fake lemonade of course, with some hints of pils (tasting like.... grain), in the first sip, and only in the first sip. The aftertaste is bitter, reminiscent of lemon seeds. Not a good radler. Probably really tastes like water from Alster.

Canned. Pale golden, rich head. Aroma of mashed apples. Metallic, raw and harsh. Revolting fatty finish. How the h*ll can they trick someone into drinking this sh*t in Germany, when they have so much good beers around?

(33 cl can, bought in Greece). Pale golden colour, low head. Very weak grassy aroma, hints of citrus. Fairly fresh and clean flavour, rather neutral but not unpleasant.
