375 ml bottle from Brewers Haven. Murky amber pour, persistent fluffy off-white foamy head. Tart aroma, oud bruin. Taste brings more tartness, but still some of the malty scotch ale detectable. Despite the label of Scotch ale, it really comes across as a sour, fruity, tart.

Hazy golden beer, thin white head. Bitter orange aroma with some funky, woody notes. Flavour follows suit. Bitter orange, a dash of grapefruit, some funk, a bit of the barrel and some spicy, floral flavours too which linger into the finish. This is very nicely done, with the funk and spice and whatnot balanced with light, zesty fruit.

Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Hazy golden body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange, funky yeast and oak. Flavour of grapefruit, rhubarb and a tangy, oaky finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. This is excellent. Epochal beers have a unique style.

On keg at Shilling. Appearance - hazy yellow. Foamy white head. Nose - creamy peach going into pineapple. Very dank and yeasty. Taste - tinned peach, stewed apple, dry yeasty backdrop. Palate - medium bodied, creamy middle and zesty dry finish. Overall - good. Very interesting.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear honey-gold with a modest, foamy white topping. Light sweet flavour with a little salty, citric funk, pale wood dryness, a few cobwebs, pithy grapefruit, bitter grass. Light bodied with active, massaging carbonation. Lean, drying finish, more grassy bitterness, dry funk. Nice one.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours mostly clear pale yellow with a small, creamy white head. Light sweet flavour with mellow tang, a little funk, grass, straw, biscuit, hay. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Balanced finish, mild salinity, nips of lemon peel, grass, pale wood, fresh funk. Great stuff.
