Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a thin beige head. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of liquorice and wood. Flavour of soy sauce and rusty metal. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A tangy, unique stout.

On keg at Shilling. Appearance - golden and cloudy. Thin white head. Nose - candied lemon and white pepper. Taste - mainly yeasty and some spice and stone fruit. Palate - light to medium bodied. Yeasty dry finish. Overall - weird yeasty beers that aren't quite a sour or a Saison.

Bottle online from Cork & Cask. Pours light hazed gold with off-white foam. Aroma, citrus, grapefruit, straw, funk. Taste: biscuit malts, light citrus, pineapple, peach, apricot, sherbet. Medium body with spritzy carbonation. Not the brewery's finest imvho but always an interesting flavour journey.

Apparently an authentic example of an 19th century Scottish table beer. I love it! Saaz really makes this. My only question is why was Saaz so popular in 19th century Scotland.
