Bottle online from Cork & Cask, Edinburgh. Pours hazed yellow gold with huge white foam. Aroma: smoke, yeast, oak, funk, hoppy. Taste is similar with assertive bitterness. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Not my favourite Epochal but happy to try something a little different

Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Hazy amber body with a thick beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of earth, cranberry, bitter lemon and funky yeast. Flavour of sea salt, bitter lemon and cherry. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Very fizzy. It’s quite tart and sharper than I expected but it’s an interesting, complex beer.

Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Lively carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, bitter lemon, subtle spices and a hint of raspberry vinegar. Flavour of tinned mandarin, cloudy lemonade and lime chutney. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Very fizzy mouthfeel. A refreshing and interesting beer. I’m really enjoying Epochal’s unique beers - they engage the brain.

Hazy red beer, off white head. Funky, fruity aroma. Flavour follows suit, with tartness and fruit, a little malt and spice too.

Just fab! My first thought was "this isn't a scotch ale" but apparently scotch ales were historically more balsamic and this is right in there, like a Scottish oud Bruin. Really nice, full of balanced flavors. The dark one.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Appearance - brown with orange chinks and a beige head. Nose - oak, toffee, caramel. Taste - decidedly tangy, sour and yeasty. Perhaps some cherry and sour toffee thing. Palate - medium bodied, tangy, funky, sour and woody with a persistent finish. Overall - this is actually a Flemish brown in style. And this was the intention. Good, once you've realised it.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Appearance - hazy yellow with steady carbonation and a foamy white head. Nose - a bit eggy and yeasty. Taste - burnt wood, candied lemon. Palate - tangy and medium bodied, burnt on the finish. Overall - not impressed with this.
