Description
The Lumberbeard Brewing story isn’t a complicated one. It is much like the way we like our beers: simple, straightforward, yet full of creative adventure.
Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.
Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Dark, clear amber body with a creamy off-white head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste is malty, dark bread, sweet and a dry finish, cola notes.

16oz shared with Phill @ Ryan's. Appearance: very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: loads of vanilla, chocolate, some American oak. Taste: along the same lines, vanilla is quite overpowering and hides the influence of American oak. You can still find the complexity added by barrel aging, but it is well hidden by the integration with overpowering vanilla. Overall: quite good still.

Can slightly hazy deep copper/amber. Lots of toasted and Carmel malts. Golden raisins and some digs. A little Carmel sweetness but the ABV cuts through it. Big but balanced in that way. A big beer. Tasty

Pale amber, slight haze. The aroma has kind of a rye note. On the palate, it's heavy, lots of barrel. It's strong but a nice character, with a fair bit of sweetness underneath. Just a light bit of fruitiness. The fruity sweetness.

16 oz. can, pours a clear dark golden / copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out light caramel, whiskey barrels, and some vanillin. Flavour has an impressive whiskey barrel character, with lots of vanilla, followed by toasted caramel and bready malt. Real nice whiskey and vanilla character. The wheat wine base works nicely, as the body is lighter and serves up the whiskey and vanilla well. Excellent.

Dark brown, flat and dull, no head. Sweet, boozy, hazelnuts, I like this. Not reinventing the wheel here but it's a well rounded wheel.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear, medium brown with a slight creamy tan head that persisted longer than expected. Aroma of toffee and rye. And booze. Full bodied. Flavor is the aroma with definite heat. Not at all dry. Bitter from heat and wood astringency. The rye really comes through, which is nice.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a very transient tannish head. Aroma is bourbon, burnt malt and something that could be hazlenut. Full bodied. Flavor is bourbon, heat, burnt malt and strong notes of hazlenut and chocolate. Not at all dry. Heat and malt bitterness. Tastes good.
