Description
The last known brewery in Waconia closed its doors in 1890 and for over 100 years, the residents of Waconia didn’t have a brewery to call their own. The Waconia Brewing Company opened its doors in October of 2014 and the city again, has a local brewery to enjoy! We’re family-owned and operated and pride ourselves on crafting quality beer and providing an enjoyable taproom experience to our customers who come from near and far.

On tap at Stone Arch. Pours a deep brown with a hint of amber and a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of peanut butter with sweet chocolate supporting giving a Reece’s note. Flavor starts with dark grains but is mainly a combination of chocolate and peanut butter.

Nonic pint draft at New Bohemia Wurst + BierHaus in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The pour is clear darker golden copper with a small off white head. The aroma is cereal grain, with herbal spice, and yes, pickle vegetal notes. The taste is the weird vegetal, herbal pickle of the nose, finishing with smooth clean cereal grain malt. A bit of sweetness in the finish. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and a bitter dry finish with the hop herbal pickle thing lingering. I have not had many Sorachi beers, and the ones I have had I don’t remember tasting like this. Regardless, interesting and fun to try.

Sample at Winter Beer Dabbler, 2016. Light brown color, lots of malt flavor, dry with grain, a little earthy, just a little thin. Decent head. Some very mild caramel. They did a good job with this one.

Autumn Brew Review 2015. They got this one right, true to style. Dark brown, caramel, sweet malt flavor and yeast. Good palate. Some very light fruit. This is the best beer I have had from Waconia.
