About
Our brewery derives its name from the first two atomic bombs detonated at the Nevada Test Site. These two test explosions were codenamed after the military’s phonetic alphabet of the time, making them tests “Able” and “Baker”.
The experimentation at the Nevada Test Site led to the refining of the Atomic Bomb and the ushering in of the Nuclear Age. This was a notable time in Nevada as “Atomic Blast” viewing parties were commonplace and several “Miss Atomic” beauty queens were crowned. The Atomic Age influences our artwork and concepts while allowing us to give a respectful nod to Nevada’s unique state history.

Still here @AbleBakerVegas. 6oz inky pour, oatmeal head. Smell is soft & inviting Peanut Butter cups. Taste is boozy banana upfront, bittersweet chocolate middle, earthy & not overdone peanut butter on the tail. Lingering mellow bitterness throughout, slightly acidic, muted malt on the tail. A little too boozy. Good though.

6oz pour @AbleBakerVegas. Potent bourbon nose with not much room for anything else. Taste is nicer. Mellow bourbon, lots of wood, with an almost maple essence from the lactose. Sorta sharp, lower perceived acidity than the base, just enough bitterness to keep things honest. Okay to good.

The base for many of their variants is strangely missing from this list. 6oz pour @AbleBakerVegas. Inky black, oatmeal head. Seems like the same exact malt profile along several of their stouts. Toasty, borderline burnt malt nose. Taste is sweet char & crust, maybe some unsweet cola & carob. Lingering mellow bitterness is great for me. Good acidity, strong carbonation, workable abv.

6oz pour @AbleBaker. Inky black, oatmeal head. Boozy warm, light vanilla, some char. Bittersweet, delicious blackened honey, burnt end char, a touch of smoke. Acidic & strong carbonation balanced by just enough rum-like sweetness. Tolerable abv. Thin, dusty grain finish. Good to great.

Short pour @Able Baker Vegas on the concrete patio. Inky black, white lace. Smell is mild chilis & semi-sweet malt. Odd, very veggie/cabbage front end, turning mellow green chili pepper, with some soft lactose sweetness. Lingering pepper, getting a touch hotter than I would assume. ABV heat. Very little bitterness. I'm confused. Feel is soft, milky, prickly, chili intense. Okay.

On tap @Able Baker. Short pour they swear is 6oz, sitting on their concrete patio. Black, sweaty, still. Slight hot dog spice, but continuing into mostly smoked beef territory. Mmm, serious charred steak fat. Subtle sweetness, light acid, crispy fries, soft bread. Nothing odd. Acidic finish. Thin, moderate abv, needs actual fat renderings. Great.
