[cask at Reading beer festival] Deep, rich, sweet fruitiness, red wine, some sharpness comes through, with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Pretty darn good!

Bottle, Empire wines, Birmingham. Bit of a let down this one. Darkish golden.Aroma of rotting grass clippings and stale feet.. mmmmm The alcohol is not masked well at all, and makes this a bit of a nasty expierence. Seems like more of a super T style lager than an IPA, not completely awful, but teeters on the precipice of rankness.

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub on 2008-02-14) Deep brown. Nose has some weird but not unpleasant hints of cowhouse. Dry palate. Roasted malts, hop bitterness and sweetness in taste. A bit dull. Long aftertaste.

(From old notes, cask at St Urho’s on 2008-01-17) On the tap label it read Downton Chimera Black Knight but I assume it was this beer. Rather dark, some hints of red. Quite nonexistent head. When sipping the beer, first I could taste hops and then the taste flattened. Some malts in taste at the beginning but towards the end the bitterness of roasted malts approaches unpleasant taste. Perhaps, the cask wasn’t at its prime.
