Poured up on tap at the brewpub, Carlsbad, where it exhibits a clear deep copper colored body that supports a thin near white head of foam. The aroma offers up spicy hops and thin clouds of base malts and crystal malts. The taste delivers a pleasing semi vague spicy hop bite flowing into both mild sweet malts and crystal malts. Off in the background are thin murmurs of sweet dark fruity esters. This comes across as a tasty American barleywine.

Part of my four beer tasting flight at the Docent Taproom in San Clemente on 2nd September 2025. Another beer with plenty going on from these guys, mostly low alcohol too. Clean light golden body, white wispy head. Both citrusy and piney in equal measures (almost, the citrus flavours take over in the finish), easy drinking IPA, bitter but balanced with a decent malty backbone.

Part of a flight at the Docent Taproom in San Clemente on 2nd September 2025. Dark brown body with a tanned topping. Intense coffee aroma and taste, dark berries arrive and depart leaving just the coffee flavours in the finish. Interesting and different.

On a flight at the Docent Taproom in San Clemente on 2nd September 2025. Light amber body, clean and clear; white crown. Nice, easy drinking Pale Ale with subtle fruity traces over the malty base.

On my second flight at The Rocket In (the bar inside Whole Foods Market, Laguna Niguel) on 27th March 2025. All four beers looked the same, clear golden bodies with wispy white heads on each, luckily the beers were labelled and tasted different (just). This was a very pleasantly flavoured fruity orange like brew, Bertie my dog would of approved!
