Bottle from Brewklopedia, Leicester. Light yellow, almost straw. Very little visible carbonation or head. Aroma of rough grain, with touches of sulphur and butter. Bittersweet and slightly metallic taste. Slightly astringent in the finish. Medium carbonation and body in the mouth. Noticeably below average.

Bottle from Rheged. Appearance - opaque black with an olive sheen and a lovely fawn head. Nose - light fudge and biscuit. Dark chocolate sticks it's head in eventually. Maybe molasses. Taste - liquorice, molasses and burnt bread. Savoury liquorice finish. Palate - light to medium bodied. Dry crunchy middle section. Dry burnt finish. Overall - very good. Is this dry enough to be called a dry stout. Many normal stouts are drier than this.
