Can from Beer in a Box. Roasted malt aroma with piney hop, chocolate, some orange, grapefruit, some pine and coffee. Medium bitter, light sweetish. Good.

500ml can. Opalescent, auburn colour with ruby shimmer and average, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, sulphureous to beige head. Smoky, minimally ashy aroma, notes of smoked wood, a touch of wood ashes, widely disguised, caramel malty undertones. Taste is caramel malty with some residual sweetness, smoky and minimally ashy, mildly bitter, minimally grassy hoppy overtones, minimallydiluted notes of caramel, some dark caramel, smoked wood, a touch of wood ashes, some malt lozenge, minimally metallic overtones.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, slightly dry palate, fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Well balanced, focussed, not much depth, not overly sophisticated - solid.

Panda from Colin. Cheers. Hazy purple. The lively frothy head is also purple. Aroma has fruit, hedgerow and honey. Flavourwise it's relatively low key.... at least initially. Definitely smoothie-esque: sweet and sour elements. Slightly vinous edge. Underlying chewy almost umami thang. Thick. Oily with sediments. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry not overly astringent finish. Nice but not necessarily memorable.
