In the last few years the Strate private brewery has developed into the second-biggest swing stopper bottler in Germany. The distribution area extends 120 km around the mash tun.

Etwas künstlicher Erdbeerbeginn. Kaum süß, die Minze passt gut dazu, wässriger Hintergrund. Erfrischend, leicht herber Abgang. Naja.. 7/5/8/6/7/6

Leicht herber, ansonsten überraschend schwacher Beginn. Wässrig, minimal getreidig, kein Nachgeschmack. Schlecht. 8/4/6/3/8/4

330ml bottle. Cloudy, amber to brown colour, no head. Caramel and slightly dark malty aroma, light herbal overtones, a touch of lemongrass, juniper, a minimally nutty touch as well, whiffs of lovage. Taste is malty and herbal-spicy, notes of caramel malt, a minimally chocolately and nutty touch of dark malt, hints of juniper, a touch of lemongrass, lemon, lime peel, subtle sweetness. Watery, somehow tough texture, chewy palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Nice composition, good and solid - OK.

Dumpfer, etwas pappiger Beginn. Honig, geringe Herbe, dunkel getreidig. Wenig würzig, mit malziger Zunahme angenehmer werdend, dennoch muffig bleibend. Naja... 9/7/6/7/10/7

33cl swing top bottle. A clear dark golden beer with a white lacing. Aroma of sweet strong pale malt, some ripe honey. Taste of strong honey, pale malt, some grains, mild bitterness.

33cl swing top bottle. A slightly hazy deep golden beer with a off-white head. Aroma of ripe banana, wheat and yeast. Taste of ripe banana, mango, wheat and yeast.

Bananiger, alkoholisch hefiger Beginn. Geringfügig bitter, trocken, alkoholisch bleibend. Milde Süße, monoton, stumpf. Okay.. 10/8/8/8/9/8

Leicht alkoholischer Beginn, holzig, geringe Süße. Der Alkohol bleibt deutlich erkennbar, trocken, mild nach Vanille, leicht herb. Mittellanger Abgang. 9/8/9/9/10/9

I am not reviewing this as a beer for drinking. It is a bit sweet for my palate. However, I have to say that as a marinade for pork this is probably the best I have ever found. I have used this to marinade both pork loin and pork chops with a little salt, pepper, rosemary, sage, thyme and parsley, this beer really enhances and goes with the meat and makes for some of the most tender and delicious pork I have ever eaten.
So as a cooking beer, especially for pork, this is a 10!
