Description
Rocky Head Brewery is a micro (5BBL) brewery set up by a group of friends inspired by the American Craft Brewing scene. The brewery is probably the most ramshackle in the UK, equipment sourced and modified from here, there and everywhere.. It seems to work though! We craft artisanal batches of intensely flavoured pale ale by hand, loaded with American and NZ hops.

Bottle from Oddbins. It pours hazy orange-amber with a thick beige head. The nose is orange, tangerine, sherbet, earthy, dough and urine. The taste is bitter, pine needles, earth, dirt, grapefruit, biscuit and resin with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not the cleanest or most balanced IPA out there, but not bad.

Hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth with fine minerally carbonation. Smooth creamy malt. Light floral bitter yeast twang. Mild orangey hops, little pith. Smooth dry finish. Not bad, but these day you need more hops in 7% IPA.

Bottle from Oddbins London. Hazy dark amber lasting ivory head. Touch of diacetyl and hops on the aroma. Some orange fruit in the mouth and the finish is ok orange flavour with some hop, but too much diacetyl for me. Settles down a bit. Some decent orange fruits. About ok. Still not a great IPA.

Bottle at home, 14th March 14. This smelt terrible on open, cheesy, musty, not inviting. There is lots of flavour, seemed to get better as it went on. Palate slight over carbonated. OK
