Description
A new micro brewery located in central Brixton.
I’m Alex and I am Dogs Grandad Brewery. I have been brewing for just over 3 years now – on my home set up, volunteering at breweries over London and doing a few courses to fine tune. Dogs Grandad was born when I decided to turn my passion into a profession – and I cant wait to get started.
At Dogs Grandad Brewery I am going to be making hop forward beers that are easy to drink using my favourite hops and a neutral yeast. The beers will be hazy but the ABV wont be over the top. All beers are Vegan friendly and I only use quality, natural ingredients in every beer that I brew.

Can on 712 to the Ness, thanks to zd Knott, 25/02/23. Murky chestnut brown with a decent lasting beige cap. Nose is pine needle, burnt tropical fruit esters, grass, bitter orange. Taste comprises orange zest, light roast, toffee, dusty hops, hint of grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an earthy hop bite. Not bad.

From cask at Shirker’s Rest, New Cross, London, with Oly 22.11.22. Muddy dark straw colour. White head. Aroma and taste of old citrus, overripe pinapple and bicycle tube repair kit. Meh!

440ml can from Craft Metropolis. Poured a murky golden orange colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is grainy malt, tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a fresh, crisp, grainy, mineral, stone fruit, earthy, light piney, woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Keg at Three Hounds, Beckenham. Aroma is sweet - vanilla and caramel. Dark cola brown. Thin translucent beige head. Light bitter. Coffee. Instant coffee. Sour berries. No vanilla that I can ascertain. Medium-heavy bodied. Oily. Flat-average carbonation. Long finish. Pretty bland stuff after the initial aroma.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small off-white head. Some traces of general fruitiness in the nose. Roast malts to the fore in the mouth, plus dark fruits, hops and hints of pine and chocolate. Quite sweet overall, and a bit watery. Not bad, but no world-beater.

On tap at Dogs Grandad Brewery and Taproom, half-pint shared with Finn. Creamy beige head to a plain black body, fair lacing. Roasted dark malty aromas, bread and liqorice. Blend of grainy chocolate malts to the flavour character, together with moments of pine needless. Decent roasted bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied. Pretty good, easy to drink. (Brixton, London 20.11.2021).
