330ml bottle from a Supermarket in Rethymno, Crete. Off-white head that recedes to a patchy surface. Minimal lacing. Clear reddish-brown coloured body. Earthy malts and apricot on the nose. Flavours of sweet dried fruits and dark caramel malts. Slightly roasted ending. Soft and crisp mouth feel. Medium bodied. Noticeable alcohol. Quite alright, a bit too sweet in the long run (balcony at the hotel room 08.09.2013).

33cl bottle at Pueblo de Cafe, Rhodos. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Fairly mild malty aroma with caramel and hints of spices and toast. Medium sweet with dominating caramel flavour and quite noticable bitterness. Hardly anything to write home about, but a nice break from the Greek pale lagers. Fair enough.

Bottle at restaurant, Crete. Has a clear amber colour with a light brown, medium head. Faint aroma of fudge, wood and some hops. The flavour has more caramel and hops, and some leather. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A decent ale but with a little faint aroma. Well-balanced though.

Can from Tesco Longford [170813] (Served warm...not ideal)
Dark brown, ruby edges, dense tan head
Aroma - Dark caramel, dab of chocolate, soft roasted malt
Taste - Dry roasted malts, some burnt toast, some dark slight sweet dark caramel malts to offset the roast a bit, slightly fruity
Palate - Soft carb, thinnish body. Finish - rather dry, bitter roast finish, dab of coffee grounds, burnt bitter linger
Overall - More bitter roast in the finish than Guinness, rougher roast ...will re-rate on tap as the can probably doesn’t do it justice...

Draught @ BBF13. Pours cloudy dark brown with creamy, stable light beige head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel. Mildly sourish and bitter taste of hops with clear malty notes and a faint touch of roast. Rough finish. Used to drink pintloads of it years ago in Ireland. Out of sheer nostalgy, I must admit it is quite OK :-)
