Lightly hazy gold - surprisingly crisp and clean ale, with a light honey sweetness - almost lager like in body and flavor, which likely comes from the sake yeast- some innocuous fruitiness throughout - the rice does add a light starchiness that is a little strange - lightly floral and spicy finish - decent.

Tap @ Cooper Kettle. Pours a clear golden appearance with a white head. A bit of out of control aroma packed with phenols, banana, pepper, and citrus. The flavor, while clean, is similarly over the top with a massive amount of spices, citrus and banana. A little hard for me to drink. The yeast and a massive amount of spices just created a too busy environment.

Tap @ Copper Kettle. Pours a fairly clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasted malty, a bit nutty, orange fruity, somewhat oaky, a bit herbal aroma. Slightly boozy, toffee, coconut, rich vanilla woody, somewhat floral, citrusy flavor. The oak notes really came out nicely.

Tap @ Copper Kettle. Pours a bit hazy reddish orange appearance with an off white head. Kind of smells like an English Pale, strangely enough. Chewy ale yeasty, tangerine citrusy, somewhat herbal aroma. Earthy, herbal hoppy, a touch buttery, light caramel, toasty malty flavor. Kind of interesting.

Tap at CK - I am normally not a fan of oak aged IPAs, as the barrel tends to rob the beer of itβs vibrancy - this, however, is a bit of a different story - the oak is very mild, adding only a hint of wood and vanilla - the hops are still bright, peppery, lightly citric - light coconut in the finish compliments the more tropical hop notes - quite nice.

Tap at CK - medium amber with a thick, sticky lace - nose is of pungent pine and citrus, some earthy character, grass - flavor is dry and Biscuity up front, with moderate citrus peel - gets some sweeter notes of caramel through the middle, but dries out again on the tail end, bringing copious earthy pine, peppery spice and bitterness - dry, biscuit finish - probably the best hoppy beer this brewer has made.

Hazy light gold - nose of light honey, a bit of peppery, a light citrus-like tartness, a bit of grass - creamy texture - medium sweet up front (honey), followed by a light herbal bitterness through the middle - very light tartness on the tail end, with a mild juniper character - a little bit of spiciness in the long, dry finish - quite nice, and subtle/delicate for something so strong.

I thought this would be quite similar to last yearβs with the exception of the spices, nut it is a very different animal indeed - no nearly as hearty - almost watery in the mouth (apparently an amber ale base this year) - clear orange - nose is largely of he lavender, which is a surprise considering the other adjuncts are generally much stronger in aroma - a bit of the peppermint peaks through - flavor is semi tart - some vanilla character - very mellow peppermint through the middle - finish of light lavender and a touch of bitterness - decent, but a bit simple - I like the old recipe much better.

Tap at CK - clear gold - lively pour - aroma is simple and clean - some light pepper, mild grains, a bit of sweetness - the flavor is decidedly more complex - medium dry and quite peppery up front - crisp, crackery malt later, as well as some floral and herbal qualities (lavender) - slight mineral late - lingering peppery spice in the finish - quite good despite the relatively simple aroma.

Tap at CK - lightly hazy light amber - nose is light toffeeish maltiness, a touch of floral hops and toasted grain - moderately creamy mouthfeel, fairly medium bodied for the abv - flavor of caramelized sugars, toasted grains/bread, light bitterness and even a light spiciness on the tail end - easy drinking, but with enough malt richness to satisfy - decent.
