Warning! Early amateur rating! A pretty standard lager but quite drinkable. Slightly watery which is probably why it went down so well back in 1992 when I almost lived on the stuff whilst travelling around Indonesia.

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, golden colour with a blond and short frothy head. Sweet and slightly dusty corny malty nose with traces of plastic and metal. Moderately sweet flavour, light bodied with a slightly sharp carbonation. Extremely corny taste with papery and plastic-like notes; papery malty finish with a shy level of bitterness. 28.VIII.10

Bottle at the Bier Museum in Koln. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Hoppy bready aroma. It is bready, and clean. Finishes mildly bitter. Lack of fruit distinquishes from kolsch, but otherwise similar.

Deep rich gold with a high head. Aroma of light malt, grassy hops, and a bit of skunk. Crisp, light flavor, fruity, with light but nicely grainy and tasty malts and grassy hops. Light hops with low bitterness but refreshing and clean. OK for a major pale alger. Not very interesting but nothing is wrong with it.

33cl Can brought from Indonesia. Ohh man, this is foul stuff, beyond belief... Pours clear light golden, thin white head. Aroma of sweet applejuice and cardboard, plain awful. Flavour is even worse, very sweet artificial sugary applejuice, sweet finish. I couldn’t even swallow the first sip. Light to medium bodied. VERY bad.

660 ml can sampled@RBNAG 2009, Vatlandsvåg. Golden body with a fast disappearing white head. Light aroma of sweetish fruit and iron. Flavor has a light fruitiness with a metallic bitterness. Drinkable, but boring. Remember this beer as a bit more decent during my holiday in Bali, but it’s amazing what the environment can do with you’re senses.
