28/08 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Marko, thanks! It poured hazy reddish brown body with medium sized to bigger brownish head. Slightly sour, stale and vinous aroma, had some toast and caramel base though. Sourish metallic flavor, with fine background malt (coffee, sweetish caramel, yeasty) that is unfortunately not too prominent. Except those ugly notes in the finish, fine coffee did manage to emerge. Unfortunately, in this condition is total failure, they shouldn’t have released this batch, no matter it’s first, but this one got some potential to be nice. Also, brewery got the obvious potential for making first Croatian sour ale!

Rerate:
Second batch, tasted 23/Nov/2011 with Marko. Body was the same hazy copper brown with smaller head. Slightly sourish caramel and coffee aroma, not stale this time as the first batch that was whole infected! Nice caramel, toffee and chocolate malt flavor, slightly woody as well. Thinner in body with nice, long and slightly sweetish caramel finish. A bit light, but a nice beer for sure I would welcome any time, at least in this shape!

2nd batch (not infected heh):Bottle from Kuća Piva. Yay! Dark brown-amber body, off white head. Toast and caramel in the nose, same as before, weak typical Vukovarsko soap. Nice creamy toasty soft malty taste, weak soapy notes, but other than that clean and, almost delicious, even if the taste’s a bit subdued. Not much hop. Heavy raved about this more than I can, it’s cleaner than their pale, which is good, but both beers share the same mistakes. All in all, a welcome addtion to the market! 1st batch (infected):Bottle from Kuca Piva. Misty dark brown tinged with amber. Small off rocky head. Strong toast in the nose, bit caramel. Nice toasty taste, roastier than most other Croatian dunkels, but spoiled, obvious acidity. Light carrot. Smooth still. Has potential, looking forward to trying it without the infection. 6/2/5/3/11 (2.7)

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Marko. Pours a hazy yellow with a very lively and frothy white head. Interesting Bretty aroma. Light body, heavy carbonation, sweet malty nose, some perfumy notes and quite some yeast. Dry and lightly hoppy finish. I have no idea what this is supposed to be, but it’s actually quite drinkable and pleasant. 230511

08/04 0.5 l @Tolkien’s house, Zagreb. It poured a bit murky golden body with bigger head. Herbal and orange hop aroma, a bit sourish. Somewhat grainy as well. Flavor was pleasant, slightly bitter from citrus and herbal hops with touch of honey malty sweetness. A bit thinner flavor than it should be. Dry, herbal finish. Good beer, I won’t complain. It’s great that new micros are being opened up around here

Bottled(500ml). -Slight hazy golden coloured, small white head, grainy nose with touch of honey. Few streams of carbonation. Herbal, hay and bitter hoppy taste, a bit watery. Dry bitter finish. This one is quite different from other Croatian micros that could eventually become better.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!). Poured a dark golden-orange body, slightly hazy, with a thick fluffy white head that went away at a medium pace. Grainy nose, some honey, some beets (hmm). Beets again in the taste (ugh), hoppy bitterness dominates the taste, and it’s not the tastiest hopiness there is, somewhat crude... some soapy orangey notes too. Well... the brewer(s) aren’t all that experienced apparently and they were tutored by Hungarian brewers so this is probably way better than it should be. I’m so thrilled that a new brewery has opened up, and the fact that it’s in Vukovar of all places makes that fact even greater and I wish the brewers the best of luck.
