Description

Macks Ølbryggeri is the northernmost brewery in the world. The brewery was founded in 1877 by Ludwig Markus Mack. Mack is the fourth largest brewery in Norway, and is probably one of the strongest brands from Northern Norway. Our main production is located in Nordkjosbotn, approximately 70 km from Tromsø. Mack's historical sites in Tromsø houses our administration, the beer shop Kjeller 5, our legendary pub Ølhallen and Mack Microbrewery.

Canned 500ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Hrabren. Golden coloured, medium sized white head, grassy and caramel nose. Caramel, grassy, watery, bit staleish and touch of honey with sweetish finish.

Canned 330ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Hrabren. Pale golden coloured, small white head, corn and honey in the nose. Watery, honey, corn, light cardboard and short sweetish finish. Crap.

0.5 l can from Zbir Checkpoint, Novi Sad. Shared with Ogi. Clear golden, small off-white head. Aroma is grainy, grassy, herbal and some red apple. Flavour is grainy, bready, grassy, soft bitterness, some corn, some apple. Thin, slightly creamy, moderate carbonation. Quite sweet.

0.33 l can from Zbir Checkpoint, shared with Ogi. Clear golden, small diminishing off-white head. Aroma is sweet cooked corn, corn flakes, red apple, honey and bread. Floral hint. Thin, light, high carbonation. Flavour is sweet bready, honey, apple and some corn. Too sweet, minimal bitterness, light astringency, quite crisp but finishes slightly too sweet.

0,33 flaske fra VP Verksgata, hjemme: klar rødlig kastanjefarge med fint skum. Maltdrevet duft og smak med svakt krydderpreg i tillegg til ristet brød. Avrundet med fin bitterhet i avslutningen. Men den ble kjedelig etter en stund.
Iflg. etiketten har de ikke brukt gjær, noe som tyder på slurvete korrekturlesing.

Big thank you to Sabine & Frank for this 0,33 l bottle. Nice clear copper in the glass with a more than one finger light tanned head. Malty caramel smell. Taste is red malty, some caramel sweetness and nuts. Little bit above average carbonated. Soft but present bitterness. Not bad.

Bottle courtesy of RuneBlix, which has been sat below ground in the cellar for a few years before tonight. Darker amber colour and for me better than the consistently average score this beer gets. It's smooth in the palate, has a decent wit style, citrus provides some sweetness and its coriander is an afterthought.
