Description
In 2011 we opened our local microbrewery in a former music club in Jihlava. Where DJs were in charge, we now had beer tanks, fermenters, brewhouse and we started our own ride.
Already in 2012, we with the semi-dark Sigismund placed third in the spring brewer price. A year later - 2013 - we were the third best microbrewery of the year and a year later we were the best microbrewery ever in the Czech Republic. And we also won the spring prize of Czech breweries with our wheat beer.
Time went by and the capacity of the cellars slowly ceased to be sufficient. At the same time, we thought of a new brand that we named MadCat. And then we were impressed by the building of a dilapidated distillery from 1912 in Kamenice near Jihlava. We decided to save the building and restore the craft production. Reconstruction of the distillery began in 2017 and next summer we brewed the first batch of MadCat beer in a brewery with a capacity of 2,000 liters.
Our new MadCat lager won first place at the spring prize of Czech breweries 2018! And the ride continues - MadCat is already in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Italy.

Tap. Pale yellow colour, white head. Moderately tart, pretty decent malty base. I was surprised to find an unflavoured bw.

Tap at PB Fest, Golden pour, white head. Citric, fruity hops and some slighlty resinous, a bit caramely bitterness make up this one. Straightforward, and clean, perhaps a bit one dimensional but pretty decent nevertheless.

Tap at PB Fest, shared with Marko. Deep golden pour, white head. Citric bitterness, low fruity esters, some held back pine. Light body, soft to average carbonation, easy to drink. Not overcomplex, but pretty tasty.

Bottle shared at Monyo (as MadCat I Love U Honey Bunny). Clear deep golden, white head. Nose is fruity and floral, with a hint of citric bitterness. Taste is somewhat sweet upfront, fruity and perhaps shows a touch of honey too, then turns bitter and closes with this latter. Light body, average carbonation.

Tap at the LB fest, courtesy of the brewer. Hazy paler golden pour with a white head. Nose is intense tropical fruits, candied apricot, citrus zest, very pleasing, a bit dank too. Taste is slightly less intense, there’s grass, herbal notes, citruses and tropical fruits in there. Short finish, light, somewhat creamy body and sofr carbonation. Interesting to see new CZ aroma hops shine in this beer, especially the aroma’s outstanding. Well done.

Tap at Brustok 2025. Dark brown body, off-white head. Huge caramelly, dry, woody aroma. Similar taste - caramelly, dry, woody, definitely hi-boost. Good stuff!

Tap at Brustok 2025. Hazy yellow body, thick white head. Coconut and NZ herbal notes in the pleasant aroma. Lean, clean, lightly grainy malty taste, dry, herbal and coconut notes in the taste, vague NZ paint-like touches, quite okay!
