Draft. A dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, whiskey, sherry, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of sherry, grapes, whiskey, wood, alcohol, and caramel, leading to a dry finish. For enjoyment in small amounts.

(Draught at Billie's Bier Kafétaria, Antwerpen, 19 Oct 2023) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, hazelnuts and maple syrup. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, sweet espresso, hazelnuts, caramel, toffee, maple syrup and a balanced coffee bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Rich, sweet and warming. Powerful, but hides a fair amount of the 15% pretty well. Great beer!

27th January 2024 Can. Clear very deep amber brown beer, small tan head. Airy soft palate, very airy and very soft, decent fine carbonation. Soft rich dark toffee and caramel malts, hints of port wine and whiskey barrel here, but that is just malt fermentation complexity. Treacle says the can, yeah - tick. Some alcohol spice, but just mild heat. Slightly spicy berry liqueur on the soft airy spicy finish. An accomplished barleywine for me, big feckin abv, but fairly well disguised. Fluffy soft palate for easy drinking, layered flavours for constant amusement of the palate. Yeah, this is a good one and, with all these good factors, it it is unsurprisingly, dangerously drinkalble.
