Keg at the Euston Tap, London. Pours mostly clear ruby-gold with a small head. Some lightly toasted caramel on the nose. Medium sweet flavor, some bread, herbal bitters, some light oak and vanilla. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly bitter finish, some sweet bread, light herbal hops, toasty caramel. Pretty nice.

50cl bottle. Pours honey coloured with a nicely proportioned head.The nose has an interesting combination of industrial oil and savoury chicken. The taste has ’fresh sweat’ and grapefruit pith. The palate has a medium to full body, a tangy texture in the middle and a very fresh finish. Overall, more interesting than great, but still good.

Cask at CP&K. It pours golden yellow, with a decent white head. The nose is honey, straw, hay, pear and melon. The taste is dough, hay, straw, honey, zingy citrus fruit (lime/kiwi), melon, pear, resin and oily hop, with a pleasantly bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and creamy mouth-feel. Good all-round and well balanced.

Cask at CP&K. It pours very dark brown, with a thin tan head. The nose is chipotle, paprika, smokey hint and some malt vinegar. The taste is roasted malt, the right amount of chilli (i.e. not too much), smoke, caramel, coffee, charcoal, tangy fruit, paprika and some dark chocolate. It finishes bitter, with some lingering chilli warmth. Medium body and soft carbonation. Surprisingly good, probably the best chilli beer I have had to date.

Black...good frothy tan head with good lacing
Aroma - smooth roasted malts..dark caramel malts...light smooth coffrr...get a sight hint of alcohol,,,some milk chocolate....aroma quite light
Taste - roasted malts...milk chocolate...coffee...smooth malts. In the middle the coffee comes through more...good quality luxury coffee and smooth...no hops...well blended...no roughness. Not that overly complex but still a really good flavour.
Palate - soft carb...smooth..medium to full body. Finish same as main flavour with a mellow smooth coffee tail.
Overall - Elegant, well-blended, well-crafted porter with probably one of the best tastes of coffee i’ve had in a beer so far - just gentle smooth and not overpowering (like in a mocha with the chocolate). Excellent stuff!

Cask, handpump at the Cask & Kitchen, Pimlico, London 07.01.12 in company of Loz, Lynn, Barry, Nick & Anna Subtle at first but after a while the bitterness starts to show. A little orange actually it might be more tangerine or clementine in the mouth, touch dry, bitterness starting to build after a slow start. It’s ok. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov14

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 26 Nov 2011) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread and liquorice. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness and a decent coffee bitterness. Well balanced and very tasty. Nice porter.

Bottle 500ml. @ [ Tasting by Fin & Loz ].Clear light dark brown amber colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate hoppy, pine, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration, dark malt, pine, late finish is a bit woody. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111021]

Cask@Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, caramelly with some notes of bread. Flavour is tropical fruits, some nectar, mild honey and mild caramel and crystal malts balancing it up.

50cl bottle (my first bottle from this relatively young brewery though I’ve had keg/cask before). Pours opaque black/mahogany with a very generous beige creamy head. The nose has freshly ground coffee beans and a green note which is closer to pistachios than anything else. As the head subsides there is a spice/vegetable note which I think is actually a mild green chilli pepper. The taste has a huge hit of that ground coffee and the green pepper and there is a nice layer of cream which glides over the top. The palate is medium to large in structure with a thick and creamy middle section texture and an elegant dry finish. Overall, this is a great beer - another excellent Scottish Porter.
