Description
Brewery in Elmshorn closed in december 2024. Owner moved from Elmshorn to Krefeld, bought the former brewery of "Third Sector Brewing" and started brewing his beers there in early 2026.

Former address:
Langelohe 65A, 25337 Elmshorn.

The story starts on a kitchen stove in a flat on Balduinstr, metres from the Elbe river in St Pauli. Fast forward six years and after a gentle enthusiastic push from the owners of Alles elbe, a brew pub across the Reeperbahn, Simian Ales now has a microbrewery and taproom in Elmshorn, outside Hamburg.

With a core range of beers such as a North German Pilsner, modern American style IPA, Red Ale and table beer, and collaborations with breweries including Fanø Bryghus (Denmark), Ratsherrn & Bunthaus (Hamburg), Simian is being found in more and more cities across Germany and continental Europe.

Cremig herb-hopfiger Beginn. Süffig, ansteigende Herbe, Hafer, grasig, frisch fruchtig ohne große Süße. Geringe Bitterkeit, spritzig, etwas Mango. Dunkler werdend, was der Intensität des Hopfens aber nicht schadet. Langer Abgang. Lecker! 10/12/13/12/11/12

Bottle. Hazy orange amber, offwhite cream. Nice peach and flower aroma. Medium body, light resin, peach, lychee, citrus cream cheese desert, classic but pleasant.

Bottle picked up from somewhere???? and consumed at home Saturday 26th September 2020 cooking Chicken Shawarmas listening to Craig Charles Funky and Soul Show on 6Music. This exploded out of the bottle, I think that I have lost 30-40% which is really frustrating as it's very good. Chocolate, smooth, really smooth, however there is a distinct stouty beer edge, little dry, good.

Bottle: As black as ink, medium-sized and slowly collapsing tanned head, moderate sweet-sourish aroma of dried berries, roasted malt and freshly ground coffee, traces of licorice underneath; moderate sweet-sourish flavour, medium full bodied, soft and silky MF; lingering smooth sweet-sourish finish with dried fruits, licorice and roasted malt. A goody…

A pretty good example of an american beer. Maybe their best in terms if recreating the true style. It is bitter, but balanced. Alles elbe hamburg

Very dry. Clean classic porter. Similar to a stout since it has the roast and bitterness. But clean. Alles elvbe hamburg

Shared with HP. Smooth fruity beginning. Easy to drink, mild caramel with hints of grain. Smooth fruity finish, very soft and mild. Hints of sugar candy, strawberry sweets, mild yeast there. Very nice and still complex. --- Beer merged from original tick of Silbersack Haus Bier on 18 Aug 2020 at 21:08 - Score: 7. Original review text: Shared with HP. Smooth fruity beginning. Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing. Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts malty, spicy, sweetish touch. Hints of caramel, toffee. Finish more balanced, still sweetish-malty. A bit strange...
