From my dear brother in a can: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is poblano peppers and some chocolate. There is a definite peppery taste going throughout, and, as the can promises, there is no spiciness to be had. This makes for an interesting take on the pepper beer. It isn’t bad. It is perfectly drinkable. Would be interesting to see other kinds of beers with poblanos (apparently a bunch exist, but none in mass market circulation).

Can - hazy dark copper - frothy, fairly thick lace - nose is candyish sweetness, honey, a bit of pepper, pear, light muskiness - watery texture - flavor is medium sweet - some pear and apple, gum - cereal graininess - light earthy honey finishes - uninspiring.

This beer pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and slight earthy hops. The finish is semisweet with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the taproom. Bronwn-black pour with a thin dense creamy beige head that diminishes quickly to a wispy film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, oak and chocolate. Light-bodied with a roasty malt character and notes of sweet chocolate and subtle bourbon. The finish is boozy up front with a malty aftertaste. Disjointed overall, just average.
