bottle from Frankenland. Brown colour, small beige head. Smoky nose. Full-bodied, malty base with hints of chocolate and good smoky flavours. Not as intensive as other smoked beers, but the smokey character is present - not in an aggressive way. Slightly sour.

(swing top bottle, No. 204, via Beershine, Oakes, joss & pivnizub – thanks to you all !) Cloudy, chestnut-brown colour with a thick beige foamy head. Sweet and yeasty caramelly malty aroma with a tinge of butter, accompanied by almost ethereally herbal notes, ginger bread and subtle fruity notes of citrus and dark berries. Sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, full bodied with a very smooth carbonation. Rich malty taste with notes of butter, caramel, marzipan and very subtle fruity notes; sweet and complex malty, slightly toasty and faint smokey finish with a good length. An aromatic and eclectic “Doppelbock”, which reminds me of some Danish micro-brewed beers. 08.XII.09.

Bottle from the Josh&Sunshine UPS Oddysey package. The only bottle which had actually leaked, and now I understand why: The Porcelain stopper of the patent cork had actually fractured. Somehow the remainder and the rubber seal managed to keep most inside the bottle and even kept it carbonated. Earthty, light briny aromanote. Cloudy red-brown, fine golden layer on top. Starts on a fairly strawberry earthy note, then gets more savory, balsamico comes to mind, a hint mossy wood. Uderlying sweetness gives it a solid body, fine sparklyness on the tongue prevents it from being sticky. Dry finish. Rather pleasant I thought.

Bottle, thank you so much Sunshine& Josh! Cloudy red amber, big golden foam. Fruity aroma, with a light rye and smoke edge. Peaches and berries start, speciality grain edges, a hint metal and salt, smoke retronasal. Medium to light body, foamy weissbier mouthfeel. Finishes on a quick blueberry note. reminds me of the Unionsbrau Doppelbock - fruity and deceptive. Yum.
