The Knoblach inn has been in Schammelsdorf since 1880 and it has been brewing there for about this long. Today Michael Knoblach is the resident master brewer. The Knoblachs are deeply rooted in their homeland and maintain good contact with regional suppliers and farmers. They attach great importance to preserving and actively promoting the diversity of the Bamberg region. For this purpose, the raw materials are, as far as possible, bought exclusively from the region. This not only has the advantage of boosting the domestic economy, but is also reflected in the quality. The ingredients couldn't be fresher.

Golden-brown. Hoppy liquid bread aroma. Toasty and complex with lemony hops....you’d think those wouldn’t work together but they did here. Tasty example.

Draught@Abseits. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is earth, malts, rather yeast and also has some mild mouldy hints. Flavour is very citrusy and then it has quite much the same notes as in the aroma.

Draught: Seems to be deep golden, medium-sized, lacy white head, solid sweet-malty and delicate hoppy nose; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, smooth; juicy malt, indeed, in the lingering sweet-bitter finish. Knoblach is good........

Bottle (Vroni’s Bamberg) Light amber coloured, thin, lasting off-white firm head; fruity (honey, plums) and malty aroma, combined with some herbal hoppiness, some smoky or wooden notes ?!?!? Soft, sweetish, fruity beginning; mild bitter-sweet flavour; dry, bitter and "barrique-like" aftertaste, long lasting. A very good and very unusual example of a franconian Lager !

Bottled. A dark golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as light notes of hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and cardboard, and the body is thin. Boring. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is primarily buttery, and so is the flavor with an underlying note of malt.

2015 Bockbieranstich @ Knoblach. Clear amber with a medium off white head. Aroma had malty aroma with caramel and just a touch of fruit. Flavor had a solid malt backbone with hints o floral hops. Finished fairly dry with a bitter finish. Clean and crisp

Cloudy amber with tiny short lasting off white head. Sweet grainy aroma with caramel notes. Moldy flavor with caramel notes.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear nut brown, minimal head. Roasty metallic nose. Medium sweet and lightly toasty with rounded mouthfeel. Finishes with metal and blood. A bit too much surface and too little content, more in line with American brewpubs than Franconian.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear amber, minimal head. Grassy nose. dry with clean rounded mouthfeel. Lightly woody with less inviting malt character than in most Franconian lagers. Instead grassy bitter hops come to dominate. No smoked malt used, whatever the name suggests.
