The Hönig brewery in Tiefenellern has an old tradition. The brewery and the inn "Zur Post" have been family-owned since 1778. The brewing right has existed since 1478 and can be documented.

1 liter mug, tap at Bamberg Sandkerwa fest. Pours golden, white head. Aroma is herbal, piney. Taste, has a light floral note and grains. Lightly malty and hoppy. Many people seemed to stop for this beer thinking it was a honey beer, but it was the name of the brewery. The beer has not much special, it is unfiltered, drinkable.

Draught at the brewpub. Deep golden, almost no head. Herbal spicy hops that seem vague at first, but grow to dominate. Medium bodied with low carbonation and notes of cellar and esters. Medium bitterness.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Clear deep golden with an off-white head. Distinct aroma of smoke. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel malt and VERY smoky accents - a little burned rubber and barnyard. Rather bitter finish. Very decent Smoked. 130608

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow, lacing white head. Mild cornish and light acidic aroma. Dry cornish, mild smoked and light breadish flavour. Ends with a mild bitterness.

Clear amber with a medium off white head. Aroma had gooseberries, toasted malt and light notes of caramel. Over the palate came gooseberries, juicy malt and peach. Finished dry with light bitterness.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a collapsing off-white head. The aroma is sweet mlaay with strong notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a quickly disappearing white head. Light hoppy and malt aroma. Flavour is dry hoppy and with a light spiced malt. Light spiced finish with a dry malt base.

bottle, thanks to Bochum! Slightly hazy, golden yellow with a medium-size head. Fruity and hoppy, solid malty base, the hops are slightly grassy with hints of lemon.
