Description
The Hönig brewery in Tiefenellern has an old tradition. The brewery and the inn "Zur Post" have been family-owned since 1778. The brewing right has existed since 1478 and can be documented.

Bottle (bought at the Brauerei): Deep golden, big fluffy white head, sticking to the glass, sweet pale malt, grains , bisquits and a good dash of herbal hops in the aroma; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, smooth; lingering sweet-bitter finish. A pleasant, decent Bock, absolutely not sweet.....

Bottle (purchased at the Brauerei): Amber coloured, small, quite stable and lacy off-white head, sweet-malty, slightly caramelly nose with a soft touch of smoke; slightly dry bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; the delicate smoke becomes a bit more present in the caramelly-bitter finish. A pleasant smoked for beginners.........

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big blond foamy head. Moderately sweet pale malty and sour-doughy nose with citrus and traces of honey in the background, accompanied by a light spicy hops character. Light sweet and minimal acidic flavour, quite slim bodied for 5.4% abv, quite crispy on the tongue. Malty and strawy taste with a touch of sour-dough and subtle fruity flavours; moderately sweet, malt-accented finish with a faint level of hoppy bitterness.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big foamy white head. Moderately sweet, slightly strawy malty nose with a light-citrosy and spicy hoppy note. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Slightly bready cara-malty taste with a tinge of honey; medium-dry; sweet and slightly bitter finish with a light but present hops character.

Bottle. Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy / creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, light to moderate smoke, smoke peat. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to light moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (191007)

Bottle. Hazy medium yellow color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is light malty, wheat, light hoppy and yeasty, banana, sour. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Refreshing and easy to drink. (191007)

Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, hay, light grass, earth. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Bottle
Deep aorange amber, no visible bubles, tanned foamy head. Aromatic beechwood smoke, fruity malt base - chewy but not fatty smoke, subtle hop profile - quite lovely composition. Pearling well-lagered mouthfeel. Medium body. Fresh smoked finish.

Bottled (BB 01/2006)
Copper-amber color, small white head. Lemony, honey, yeasty aroma with flowery hoppy aroma. Malty, good hoppied, a bit yeasty flavor. Malty and lemony aftertaste - not much smoke in my sample.
