Description
Our beer is brewed according to ancient recipes only from natural ingredients obtained from Latvian nature. Pure water from the Gauja National Park, barley malt, hops and yeast are used in the preparation of beer. The real taste comes from a wood-fired brewing pot. Natural sparkle and clarity of beer is obtained in the slow maturation process.

It is possible to visit the Raiskumietis brewery with a guide, who will introduce all the production processes and methods. Of course, it will be possible to taste all the production right there at the tastings.

Rating from notes had this after few local macros Smell - malty, caramel. some people reported the smell of cooked liver, but it might be because of dirty glass. Foam - Caramel, roast, sweet, malty, burned sugar Appearance - generic bottle cap From - bottle / plastic cup, dirty. Taste - Sweet, malty, caramel, burned sugar, nice. No birch was detected though. Small edit: tried it one more time later from a friend, it was close to the expiration date and it did get some sourness and birch notes more. The taste was completely different from the one I had.

21/7/2019. Bottle from Lauvas Alus, Riga. Pours pale reddish brown with a fizzed but short lasting off-white head. Aroma of dark ripe, cherries, cherry bomb sweets, chocolate, touch of black forest gateaux and a little cherry liqueur. Medium plus sweetness, minimal bitter/tart though with both developing in the finish. Moderate body, sticky texture, quite fizzy carbonation. Not so keen on the level of carbonation but quite liked it otherwise.

Smell- medium strong, roast, coffee, dark chocolate, smoke. Foam- medium thick, soft, roast notes. Medium head, dark brown, white, dark espresso color. Appearance- very dark brown, almost black, some carbonation at sides, but very little. Taste- roast, caramel, coffee, some weak sweetness, and some weak bitterness in immediate aftertaste, finishes with some more caramel and sweetness. Not bad at all. Putting this score so I can later compare to some other beers and decide.
