Description
A bunch of friends who started brewing NOLO beers during the 1st lockdown. After a fairly successful first launch we went a bit rogue and made about 9 beers in 3 months, people kept wanting more so, we kept making them. We didn't quite intend to start a company and carry on after lockdown ended, but here we are.

440ml can. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is sweet, chocolate, vanilla, cold coffee providing some bitterness. Medium bodied. Absolutely sensational NoLo beer. Really feels and tastes like a proper impy stout. A beer that makes you realise just how awful the NoLo scene was until recently.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 30A: chilli, tonka, vanilla / 18B). Can 44 cl - Batch C (BBF 10/23). AROMA: medium-low hop aroma with a fresh-green note (mint). medium notes of vanilla and medium-low tonka. low background with a slight sweet character. APPEARANCE: blue color and hazy with a slight green hue. medium-low white to light-blue head with average retention. TASTE: initial medium-low hop notes (mint), followed by medium-low to low vanilla and tonka. neutral background and slightly sweet. medium-high bitterness with a semi-dry to dry and bitter finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: although the aroma is a bit overwhelmed by vanilla, seems more balanced in the flavor. ok.

Can from Mashgang. It pours and intense unatural deep blue colour with a fizzy light blue head. The aroma is sweet, tropical fruits, blue ice pole vibes, touch of vanilla, sticky, candy and berry. The taste is not quite as expected.... firmly dry, some bitterness, pithy, zesty, orange squash, tangerine, mango, tropical vibes, nip of pine, spice, blue ice poles, some underlying candy and vanilla sweetness with a dry finish. Light body and fine, prickly carbonation. A weird concoction. A proper disconnect between appearance, aroma and taste. Novel for sure, but I'm not so sure about it.

Review based on the BJCP2015 (18B - adapted, low alcohol). Can 44 cl - Batch unreadable (BBF unreadable). AROMA: medium aroma with notes of tropical fruits (pineapple, passionfruit) and medium-low to low hop notes (lime). medium background sweet notes of vanilla. APPEARANCE: light yellow color and hazy. low white head with medium-low retention. TASTE: similar to aroma with medium-low lime hop notes and medium vanilla. medium bitterness with a semi-sweet finish with a bit of bitterness. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low to low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a very decent low alcohol APA-like beer. a bit with too much vanilla but nice nonethless.
