Banks Brewery x Duckpond x Beermash Ducks & Cake 8.5% Milkshake DIPA with vanilla & lactose Dense orange haze with a big sweet aroma of vanilla and sweet fruits. The beer definitely feels like a sweet milkshake with a bit of tart fruitiness in the finish. Sweet and enjoyable.

Pint on tap at Sea Legs, Kangaroo Point. Pale amber beer with a thin white head. Light carbonation. Patchy lacing. Grainy nose, grainy taste. Standard Helles, easy to drink.

Can. Fairly pale clear gold with a good inch of white head. Taut aroma with pomelo, barely ripe mango, lychees, light bread. Sweeter than expected with more tropical fruit and pine than suggested by the aroma as well as crustier bread. Gets to feel a bit resinous towards the fairly bitter end.

Can - the 3rd Banks Vienna lager I've had, apparently. Copper with a loosish 2cm white head that doesn't last. Aroma of bread, some toffee, grass. Fairly light bodied. Slightly and briefly rich with a touch of caught toffee, moderately bitter finish.

Can. Cloudy pale orange with a cm of white head. Oozing citrus - orange and grapefruit - and tropical fruit aroma. Barely medium bodied. Unobtrusive but rich enough light biscuit under the hops. A little bit sherbety with mandarin, grapefruit, mango skin. Clean with a dryish moderately bitter finish. Fine but a bit anonymous - but arguably that's the sub-style.

Can, 11C. Black with a large tan head that settles to an inch. Contra the name, the aroma is dominated by coffee - medium roast with berries. There’s chocolate, roast and cream too. Very smooth- you can feel lactose but not taste it (tick). Fairly sweet and now the chocolate is to the fore with coffee and roast keeping things in shape. No overt alcohol although you can feel it creeping up at the finish. Delivers.

Can. Gold with a 2cm white head that lasts as a coat. 3+ Mixed pithy citrus aroma with light bread, hints of stone and tropical fruit, flowers. Fairly light bodied with even less malt support than suggested by the aroma. The hops waft rather than bite though, so it all works out. Snappy and bitter finish. Yep.

500ml can - not the 440mls other brewers are trying it on with. Dark brown with a modest beige head. Aroma of mocha, slight roast, oozing citrus, nectarine, hints of pine and licorice. Just medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Dryish but with some coffee, caramel and roast before gentle but insistent citrus and bitterness. Good. It's too late to revive the argument that these are just porters, right?

Can. Black with a tan head that's soon at the rim. Aroma of mocha, some toffee, roast, grass. Smooth. Bittersweet with coffee, roast, dark chocolate. Quite bitter at the end - coffee, hop & roast. Plenty of presence for the ABV.
