Description
Cardiff Based Craft Brewery. Making surreal beers since August 2019.
Flowerhorn Brewery was set up in the summer of 2019 by two friends, Andrew and Arran. Shortly after meeting through mutual friends and both sharing a love of all things beer Andrew landed a job in a brewery and when Arran finished university 9 months later he jumped straight in to the industry as well. Each with two years experience under their belt they began picturing and developing exactly what their ideal brewery would look like. They spent some money on a homebrew kit and started brewing in Arran’s parent’s garage.
Fast forward: Before we knew it around came our first birthday and we celebrated by picking up the keys to our brand new unit at the Bridge Studios. Currently we’re waiting for our bespoke 5bbl kit to be manufactured and delivered and in the meantime we’re continuing creating and innovating with new styles and flavours ready to serve to you in our brand new tap room before the end of the year.

Tap at Brewdog shepherds Bush, collabfest 2022. A clouded deep plumy purple coloured pour with a halo of bright pink head. Aroma is woody raspberry, stale grains, yogurty funk, pithy, bark, soapy, wheat.. Flavour is composed of stale grains, soapy, wet dog funk, woody raspberry, cherry pips fizzy chewy. Sour funk. Palate is semi sweet, tart, tangy, highish carbonation. Meh.

440ml can from Bottle & Barrel. Drunk before seeing Indonesian punks Turtles Jr. Unclear dull gold, medium white frothy head. Fruity citrus aroma. Taste sees a pleasant zesty citrus character, rounded with a pithy grapefruit bitterness. Perhaps a touch over-carbonated. Citrus seems a touch subdued at times, a little rough around the edges, but a nice sipper overall.

Keg at Head of Steam, Cardiff. Looks like mango juice - opaque orangey-yellow. There's a thick mango pulp mouthfeel too. Taste is mango to the fore, with some vanilla ice cream too. It's predominantly sweet, but there's enough hoppy bitterness to offset it and make it more refreshing and drinkable than either mango juice or milkshake. It's one dimensional, but they've definitely achieved what they set out to do. I like mango juice, I like milkshake, and I like beer, and this combines them in a much more successful way than most others of this rather maligned and often poorly executed style. I like it!
