Moot Ales
Brewpub
in Matlock,
Derbyshire,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Red Lion Hotel
Established in 2019
Moot Oak was one of the original names for 'Matlock', meaning meeting under the oak tree. The oak tree in front of St Giles church at Starkholmes was the centre of Matlock years ago, so we felt the Red Lion is the perfect 'moot' place to replace it.
The beer is crafted on the premises and served in the bar.

Handpull cask at the Red Lion, Matlock (the brewery tap). Light to mid-gold, clear with a small white head and plenty of soapy lacing. Big white grapefruit in the aroma, some soapy lemon, touch of grass. It’s sweet with a slight citrus sourness coming in and a tasty hop bitterness on the finish. Some vegetal character in the aftertaste. A decent enough English cask IPA.
