In the fall of 2016, Brasserie Lupulus produced the first hectoliters of Tripick, which went on sale in November. "We intended it from the outset for the export market, explains director Mewissen. We didn't want to be interested in the Belgian market, but word of mouth, then the two prizes we won at the World Beer Award in August 2017, caught up with us." The two Tripick beers have indeed won the prizes for Belgium in the "Strong Lager" category. A competition among the three or four most raised in the world, in which they participated "to gauge the quality of the product". With a result that exceeded their expectations. Almost forced, constrained, they launched their products in Belgium and internationally at the same time, relying on the know-how of Frédéric Ambroise to apply the commercial strategy, and establish contacts with distribution companies and importers.

Big head that wanted to escape my glass. Sustains itself a minute or so before caving in.Aroma is not very present, in a blind test I would say it was a pilsener. Slightly pale orange/yellow, slightly hazy. Tastes like an imperial pils. Medium body. No complaints, not too shabby. No offensive flavours detected. Highly drinkable

NL/BEL excursion day 6: at the Brasserie Toussaint in Outremeuse, Liege; a small bottle. Aroma: grass, nice and fresh. Appearance: opaque amber, one finger snowy white foam. Palate: medium-bodied and slick, average carbonation; finish is long and lingering, complex and well-balanced. Taste: medium-sweet with some malted notes, a bit of biscuit, some vanilla. Alcohol is warming, very satisfying.

NL/BEL excursion day 6: at the Brasserie Toussaint in Outremeuse, Liege; a small bottle. Aroma: slightly grassy. Appearance: opaque light amber, 2-3mm. off-white scum, lots of little floaters descending. Palate: medium-bodied and slick, lively carbonation; finish is dry and rather abrupt. Taste: lightly sweet, a bit of rock candy, tonic water, alcohol is well-hidden. Nice and dry, palate trumps flavour.
