Tap at Ale Arsenal. Pours deep, deep brown with khaki, small head that is a collar of small bubbles. Smoky, rustic aroma of baked bread, figs, and licorice. Flavor is burnt tree, molasses, pitch and dark fruit. Really interesting beer, and a great Baltic.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 15, 2023. Aroma is malt forward with nice bready notes, grain and cracker notes with hints of toasted bread. Light grassy, herbal hop notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a clear, golden color with a medium large, medium thick, pillowy white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers on the edges. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a medium sweetness with nice bready malt notes with hints of toasted bread and crackers. Moderately strong bitterness and light alcohol notes. Light grassy, woody hop notes that linger in the finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a crisp dry finish and medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer. Lots of malt flavor and sweetness but it's balanced by a pretty strong bitterness. Light background hop and alcohol notes. Fairly crisp, dry finish.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 15, 2023. Aroma is fairly hop forward and fruity with lots of passion fruit and lighter notes of gooseberry and white wine fruit notes. Even lighter dank, resin notes. Light cracker malt notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, golden straw color with a medium large, fairly thick, fluffy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers in clumps on the edges. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light cracker malt notes. Medium high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Fairly strong, sweet, fruity hop flavor with lots of passion fruit, stone fruit, and gooseberry. Light dank, resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid Nelson IPA. I think I prefer when the Nelson has more of a cat piss aroma and flavor than this fruity version, but it's still very nice. Balanced malt body and bitterness and a bit sweet to hide the alcohol notes.

Poured from an undated 16 oz can. Aroma is malt forward with lots of milk chocolate, dark caramel, toffee and Tootsie Roll. Lighter notes of roast, toasted bread and hints of cherry and raisin. Medium light alcohol notes and hints of woody, herbal hops. Pours dark brown, almost black with dark brown hues on the edges and a large, thick, fluffy, tan head that recedes slowly to a small, creamy film that lingers. Medium light lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of dark caramel and toffee. Lighter notes of roast, milk chocolate, bakers chocolate and toasted bread. Medium high bitterness and medium light alcohol notes. Light herbal, woody hop notes. Hints of cherry and raisin. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, flavorful Baltic porter. Tons of sweet, flavorful malt notes loaded with chocolate and caramel. Flavor not as fruity as the aroma. Alcohol is well hidden behind the malt notes. Solid bitterness and just enough hoo character to add a bit of complexity.

Poured from a can dated August 8, 2023. Aroma is hop forward and fruity with lots of orange, tangerine, tropical citrus and lighter notes of passion fruit, stone fruit and hints of gooseberry. Light cracker malt notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a fairly clear, yellowish gold color with a medium large, moderately thick, fluffy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers in clumps on the edges. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light grain and cracker malt notes. Medium light bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong notes of orange and tropical citrus. Lighter notes of gooseberry, passion fruit and stone fruit. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid hoppy lager. This has a lot more IPA characteristic than that of a lager, with a bit of a maltier and less crisp mouthfeel than I would have expected. Really nice hop aroma and flavor. Balanced bitterness and well hidden alcohol notes.
