On tap at the brewery. Aroma is hop forward, dank and oily. Lots of cat piss, gooseberry, tropical fruit, grapefruit and hints of berries. Light cracker malt, grain and bread notes with light alcohol notes. Pours a moderately hazy, pale, golden straw color with a medium sized, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Fairly high lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light cracker malt and bready grain notes. Moderate bitterness and light alcohol notes. Quite a bit of gooseberry, tropical fruit, grapefruit and tropical fruit notes. Lingering dank, oily, resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied and slightly crisp with medium carbonation. Low astringency and faint alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid hop-forward pilsner. Really nice hop notes with solid nelson and riwaka character. A bit maltier and sweet than I was expecting from a pilsner. I do wonder if this was a punch in the face when fresh.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is grain-forward with some white bread and flour notes. Hints of herbal, floral hop notes. Faint alcohol notes. Pours a very clear, super pale, yellow straw color with a small, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes quickly to a small film that lingers. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a medium light bready, grain note. Moderate bitterness that lingers into the finish. Medium light herbal, grassy hop notes. Mouthfeel is super light bodied, crisp and dry with medium carbonation. Low astringency and faint alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid lager. Good malt notes and balanced hop character. More bitter than I was expecting, but I think that's more a function of the light malt body rather than being heavily hopped.

Tap at Ale Arsenal. Aroma is roasty and nutty. Pours deep brown with chestnut highlights. Head is tan and patterns well. Flavor is also overt roast, moderate chocolate and nutty on the back half of the palate. This tastes a bit like a Cascadian with the overt roast. I remember having my first Janet's at RRBC long ago and loving it so much. Was also fortunate to meet and share a drink with Tasty a couple of times. He remains in rarified air in my rankings of great Bay Area homebrewers, and it was nice to drink this beer (with this recipe) and think about the great man that Tasty was and the legacy he left.

This is a fantastic west coast DIPA! Pours clear light gold with off-white head that recedes quickly to a collar of small bubbles around the edges. Aroma is dank, grain and grapefruit rind. Faint ammonia. Flavor is dank, resinous and Forrest floor. Finishes dry with a slight bitter bite. Alcohol is well hidden hear as this is a crushable DIPA.
